5/4/12 'Homeward Bound' 30 years ago!
I've finally got round to looking at slides I took 30 years ago and transferring them to digital format. I have been considering purchasing a slide scanner but most affordable ones only generate a 5Mp image where as my Pentax K5 is 16.4Mp After a little trial & error, I set my camera with my 50mm macro lens on my tripod about 3" from my study window with a sheet of white paper stuck to the outside acting as a diffuser. (See http://smu.gs/Hqmr4V) Once on my iMac, I could get a proper look and tidy up the dust etc. I have found the 'skin smoothing' brush very efficient for this task.
Now a word about this image, this is asK 21 513 collected from Schleicher's Poppenhausen factory in March/April 1981 and flown by the Phoenix Gliding Club at RAF Brüggen, Germany.
I was a 19yr old RAF Policeman there and spent most of my free time (& Deutschmarks) engrossed in the wonderful hobby. My first flight in the 'K21' was on April 19th '81 and I wrote in my my Pilots log book "first encounter of the glass kind!" as previous to this I had only flown in wooden or metal gliders.
Hope to show you more over the next week or so, thanks for you super comments on my B&W tree root shot yesterday, pity our 'anonymous' scarlet digit snake who seems to be targeting my images again.
